Can I plug in my chargers and devices?

Power outlets on the island are the same as in the United States. (120v 60hz with NEMA 5-15R sockets.)

Will the locals speak English?

Many younger Tanitians speak fluent English. However, very little English is spoken in rural areas, especially by the older residents.

Do I need to exhange currency?

Taniti uses the U.S. dollar as its currency, but many businesses will also accept euros and yen. Several banks facilitate currency exchange, and many businesses accept major credit cards.

What are the best places to visit?

Most tourists spend most of their time in Taniti City, which boasts native architecture and nearby white, sandy beaches that encircle Yellow Leaf Bay. Other popular activities include boat or bus tours of the island, hikes in the rainforest, or visits to Taniti’s active volcano.

What is the drinking age?

The drinking age on Taniti is 18, though this isn't strictly enforced.

Do the bars close?

Alcohol is not allowed to be served or sold between the hours of midnight and 9:00 a.m.

Is it safe?

Violent crime is very rare on Taniti, but as tourism increases, there are more reports of pickpocketing and other petty crimes.

Is there good medical care?

There is one hospital and several clinics. The hospital has many multilingual employees.

Are there any times to avoid visiting?

Taniti enjoys a large number of national holidays, and many tourist attractions and restaurants will be closed on holidays, so visitors should plan accordingly.

Are the lodgings reputable?

Yes! All types of lodging are strictly regulated and regularly inspected by the Tanitian government.

Can the island handle big planes?

We have a small airport that can accommodate small jets and propeller planes. However, we're in the process of expanding the airport so larger jets will be able to land on the island within the next few years.
